Useful for measuring treatment effectiveness

Numbers needed to treat or harm are useful measures of treatment effectiveness. They can be derived from the results of clinical trails or any study where there is a significant difference between 2 alternative treatments.
They can be used to compare different treatments and may be helpful in developing clinical guidance, explaining risk and benefits to patients or making decisions on healthcare spending priorities.
