The objective was to capture real-world learning designs so that we can explore how readily they may be re-used. Practitioners and students were facilitated in small teams to experiment with learning design tools and templates and collaboratively create shareable learning designs. The workshops were based upon the acclaimed UCeL "unlocking content" workshops where participants work collaboratively in small groups facilitated by roving presenters.

A briefing document went out to participants a week beforehand encouraging them to make explicit the learning designs in their current teaching practice. These might be contextualised in a specific subject but we were looking to discover the underlying patterns and generalise them as part of the workshop activities and discussion.

The workshops were free of charge to colleagues in UK HE or FE but numbers were limited and all workshops were fully booked. Reasonable travel expenses were reimbursed and lunch, refreshments and all materials were provided.
